Our WHY

To the generation busy spinning so many plates all at once in midlife – kids, career, finances, and health, just to name a few – the addition of raising parents brings a whole new dynamic!

Enter genRPM

We are here to share our own personal experiences, in the hopes of making the journey a bit easier for others. Together we will explore the humor, humanity, and all-things-humbling in walking this path of Raising Parents Midlife

About Us

Friends since college, we have each taken on the important role of raising a parent midlife.

Gina R has been caring for her mother and an aunt – across the country – for five years since her father’s passing, while also helping care for her in-town mother-in-law for eight years.

Retired from corporate life — with over 25 years as a leadership trainer, coach, and marketer — she now focuses on her true passion of connecting people and creatively problem-solving in this chapter of raising parents.

Missy P was a VP of Operations for a major national distribution/fulfillment center with years of senior-level corporate management experience as well as years working as Director of Operations for a non-profit while caring for her parents. She eventually put her career on hold to become the full time (24hr) caregiver for her mother before her passing. Now she is finding her new “normal” and new purpose focused on what is truly important in life.

With our lessons learned, we want to connect with others who are also walking this same tough journey as an adult child navigating the change in roles.

What is genRPM?

Welcome to a brand new weekly podcast and online community of midlifers.

As truly the first generation tasked with keeping ALL OF THE THINGS going at such a high volume, and with varying rates of speed, it's like spinning the plates at different revolutions per minute. This tongue-in-cheek reference to raising parents captures our experience, where, as adult children, we step in to help guide the journey alongside our parents. And similar to raising kids, it truly does take a village!

The main goal of genRPM is to help others prepare to walk that road with respect and dignity for their parents – understanding that it's the first time they've grown old, and they're facing the very real perception of "losing control". We also want to give ourselves a bit of grace as caregivers.

The job is HARD, and we are here to serve as community for online discussions among RPMers to share ideas and to provide support for each other.

Join us weekly as we share practical advice, tips, resources, and some humor along the way..
